What Dino to Choose in a Dinosaur Party

On my nine-year old son's last birthday, we had gotten sick of traditional video games, comics, cartoon characters and swimming birthday parties. So I decided to go with a friend's idea and went to organize a dinosaur party. I had it all covered --- the Jurassic-themed plates to the T-Rex cake to the prehistoric birthday invitations. But then me and my son encountered a new dilemma-what kind of dinosaur should he imitate as the main celebrator?

That was soon solved as we discovered that there are a lot of kiddie dinosaur costumes available on the Internet. In fact, you can even create your own costume with some old pajamas, paper mache, some paper plates, markers and a really wild imagination. You can go absolutely wild and think of the most far out designs if you're designing a dinosaur costume. All you need are a few ideas.

My son eventually chose to go as a T-Rex (which is his new favorite dinosaur) but you can choose from an endless number of dinosaurs and other creatures, depending on what your son or daughter wants.

Here are just a few options:

Cave Man/Girl- Alright, so it's not exactly a dinosaur or even reptilian looking, but these costumes definitely belong in any dinosaur party. They're one of the easiest beings to portray at that, with you only needing a camouflage or animal print fabric to make the look complete. You can add more props likes bones or rock accessories to complete the effect.

Triceratops- An all-time favorite with its three horns and large neck frill, it's imposing, big and definitely fun to make and wear. Cardboard is one of the best materials to make the face mask from and a little gluing here and there will make your kid the star of the show.

Stegosaurus- Here's another popular dinosaur costume for the kids. It's one of the most challenging costumes to make yourself or your child because of the plates that run all the way down its back and down to its tail. It's very fulfilling as well, and adding bumps and definitions all over the body with green face paint will make the illusion complete.

Pterodactyl/Flying reptile- This is one of the easiest costumes to hand-make, especially since you can judge how wild you want the wings to look.

These are just a few of the options available to you if you ever find yourself organizing a dinosaur party. You can flash your creative powers and wow all the other parents with your unique approach to children's costumes.
