Make Your Own Halloween Costumes

Lions and tigers and bears, Oh my! The only thing that may be more frightening than a Wizard of Oz type dream is the prospect of making your own Halloween costume. Adults especially tend to be more conservative when it comes to costume parties, and opt to rent or buy one of the more popular (or perhaps available, depending on your timing) selections so as not to seem overly spirited for the occasion. If you happen to be on a budget, or want something that will make you stand out in a crowd, I suggest you consider making your own costume. The beauty of Halloween is that you can dress up as anything you can imagine and not be frowned upon by the Halloween police. The sky is the limit...you can get as extravagant or as simple as your imagination, financial situation, and courage will take you.

Materials for your fashion statement can be gathered from items around your house, around the block, the local thrift shop, or dollar store. This is where you really have to think. The possibilities are endless. I will attempt to describe to you some of my more memorable costumes in order to spark your inner child to dream up a costume that will be the life of the party. Keep in mind the fact that if someone has to ask you what your costume is, the more attention it will get later in the night.

The Concorde-yes, the French jet liner famous for its slanted nose and posh accommodations. A large cardboard box is all that is needed to cut out the wings, tailpiece, and helmet. Attach the wings with string, yarn, or twine that form loops for your arms. The tailpiece can be slotted so a belt will provide the needed support. The helmet is created primarily by a cardboard crown that fits the wearer's head then adorned with two conical pieces (one of which is about one-half the size of the other) of construction paper formed to make the nose.
The cardboard can then be spray painted, covered with freezer paper or construction paper to make it white. The costumee should wear a white shirt and pants to finish the effect.

An Ocean Wave-This is a very easy costume to make. All that is needed is a sheet with a hole cut in the center to accommodate a person's head. A couple cans of spray paint of varying blue hues will transform this ordinary linen into a sure conversation starter. This can be worn alone, or a cardboard crown can be fashioned to complete the wardrobe. A surfer, seashells, or fishes attached to the sheet provide nice finishing touches.

A Jellyfish-This is another very easy costume that will have your fellow partiers green with envy. An ordinary clear garbage bag with a hole in the top for your head provides the basis for this hilarious costume. Additional touches can be added by draping crepe paper streamers from your belt to give the appearance of propulsion tentacles.

Cardboard boxes are plentiful and can be fashioned to make wonderful costumes. Some more popular choices are a computer, a robot, a television, or any other "boxy" thing that strikes you. Some have even elected to go as a box!

Thrift stores offer a plethora of costume possibilities. Wigs, trenchcoats, suits, dresses, and accessories are readily available for your fantasy to unfold.

There you have it, unlimited possibilities await you. Be bold, be daring, be anything but practical when it comes to making your own Halloween costume. It will be one of the most memorable nights and is sure to bring compliments for years to come. It is a very satisfying experience knowing that you have envisioned a work of art and brought it to reality with your own two hands without going into the poor house to do it. Now sit back and reward yourself for a job well done.

Features and Characteristics of the Action Figure

Action figure are a posing stature of characters made of plastic and other materials often based on the characters from a movie, video game, television programs or comic books. The usual target market of these action figures are for the boys. Restorative action figures are occasionally referred to as action dolls because of its featured clothing styles.

These action figures were mostly well-liked by boys since they represent the usual masculine characters that are strongly associated with the globe. They were first promoted as childrens toys, but action figures have developed a wider acceptance as male adult collector's items and have been created purposely with that thought in mind. With this situation, those items had been popular for display intentions.

The production of Action Figures

Raw materials - aluminum wires, modeling clays and different sculpturing tools were utilized for making the sample products. The concrete figures were patterned from the plastic resins, like acrylinitrile butadiene styrene or the ABC. It is a form or a harder plastic material used in forming the main body frame.

The softer plastics such as polypropylene and the polyethylene were usually used for molding the little accessories and costume parts. Assorted fabrics like nylons and rayon can be utilized for the costume gears together with the body set of clothing, shawl, and the face masks. For its final beautification, acrylic paints from variety of colors that could be utilize for decorating the figure.

Design - the real design process starts with the sketches of the projected figures, followed with the creation of the clay model. This trial product was made through the bending aluminum wire to shape the framework of the action figure. The wire outline comprises the figures of the extremities posing at the common stance to be assumed by the figure.

Sculptors will then put the clay to its framework to provide the desired essential shape and weight. The clay could be slightly baked for the duration of prototyping procedure to harden it. After the creation of the basic forms, the sculptors will concentrate for the enhancement of the leg, arms, facial expressions and everything with in the body. After the head attachment, costumes will then be sculpted directly to the body.

The sculpted model will then be sent to the manufacturer for the approval. When all the detailed designs were finalized, the sculpted model will be used in making the pattern that will be forming plastic pieces in the mass-production figure.

Features

Articulation - the most common feature above all action figures is the body articulation, regularly referred to as joints. The very necessary forms of articulations were comprised by the neck joint, shoulder joints, and the hip joints. It also includes the wrists, bending knees and the swiveling waist.

Accessories - not every action figures includes accessories. It is an additional item that is proved to be essential to the characters and its efficacy as interactive toys. Though, due to possible safety concerns, the accessory methods saw a declination in the middle of the 1990's.

Freddie Mercury Fancy Dress Costumes - 5 Accessories to Help Make the Perfect Freddie Mercury Outfit

Of all the many spectacular outfits that Freddie Mercury wore over the years, perhaps the most famous of all was the 1986 Wembley yellow jacket outfit, which he usually wore with a white vest, white trousers and a pair of white trainers.

Most Freddie Mercury fancy dress costumes currently available seem to be replicas of that 1986 Wembley yellow jacket outfit. Although they vary in price and quality, most of these type of Freddie Mercury outfits usually include just the jacket and a white jumpsuit. This means that if you want your Freddie Mercury fancy dress outfit to look authentic then you are going to need to buy some cool accessories.

Moustache

A Freddie Mercury costume from the eighties without a moustache would just not look right, so buying a moustache for your outfit is a must. In my opinion, a groovy hippie moustache makes a good base for your Freddie one, but of course you will need to trim it to make it more authentic looking.

Wig

As well as his moustache, Freddie also had an extremely distinctive haircut. The best way to recreate this look is by purchasing an Andy Warhol black wig and combing it so that it looks like Freddie's 80's crop.

Flash t-shirt

Freddie occasionally swapped the white vest for a white Flash Gordon t-shirt, as first worn during the video for Flash. This is an optional extra, as your outfit is likely going to come with the white vest anyway, but it certainly does look good underneath the yellow jacket.

Retro white Adidas trainers

As with most costumes, the right footwear makes a huge difference to the overall effect of your outfit. During the 1986 Wembley concerts, Freddie often wore a pair of white adidas trainers with blue stripes. You should definitely have a look at some retro trainers websites to try and create this look, or failing that have a look at current adidas range to see if they have any similar trainers on offer.

Microphone and stand

One of Freddie's trademarks throughout the years involved the use of a microphone and stand, minus the bottom section. He would often throw the microphone stand up in the air during his routines on stage. Next to his moustache, this is the thing that most represents Freddie visually and so it is important that you try to recreate the microphone and stand in order to make your costume that little bit more authentic looking.
