Titanium War Within Prowl

Well this is only one of three Titanium figures I own. While I dont care for the line pretty much as a whole this ia decent figure, just lacking a bit in poseability and the total lack of any accessories.

Proof of Santa's Visit

Children love seeing the evidence of Santa's visit Christmas Eve. Use some of these ideas to add a little extra magic to your Christmas morning.

1) Make sure to leave cookie crumbs, some nibbled carrots and, spilled milk from snacks left for Santa and the reindeer.

2) Leave a small piece of red velvet fabric by the fireplace after "Santa" leaves out the gifts. The children will find it Christmas morning and think that Santa ripped his suit when squeezing through the chimney.

3) Santa sure can make a mess when he is in a hurry! Sprinkle some ashes about the side of the fireplace and use some large boots to make bootprints in the soot.

4) Sprinkle some white glitter under the tree as Santa's magical Christmas dust.

5) Leave a few large jingle bells out in the lawn as if they fell off of the reindeer harness. You can also make a few gashes in the yard to show where they landed.

6) Have Santa leave a note to the children on the tree, in a stocking, or on the plate of cookies and make them feel extra special. Santa can make sure to remind them to be good all year long. Make sure to tuck the special notes away someplace safe. It will be fun to read what Santa wrote in the coming years.

Spending time with your child is the most magical gift of all. Christmas is one of the best times to focus on your children and make new traditions and memories that they will treasure forever!

Hannah Montana Dress Up For Halloween

The teen sensation Hannah Montana has taken America by storm. When a popular figure arrives on the scene, it is natural to want to emulate them. What better time to do that than Halloween? If you scour the internet for Hannah Montana costumes, you are sure to find your fill. If you want to make your own, then you are going to have to start with a platinum blonde wig WITH BANGS, of course! No Hannah Montana costume would be complete without it. You may also consider playing up the duality of her Disney character by getting a long brunette wig to wear on the back of your head. Then glue a picture of Miley Cyrus to the back to complete the costume experience.

Hannah Montana, or Miley Cyrus, has met no small amount of controversy this past year. You may also want to put a twist on your Hannah Montana costume by making it emphasize one of her more controversial moments, such as the exposed green bra on her MySpace page or totally naked Hannah Montana dressed in a lone bed sheet. Perhaps you might want to indicate NOT wearing a seatbelt or not having enough tickets in your Montana costume.

Another idea for a Hannah costume is a half and half costume. Put a blond wig on the left side of your head and a brunette wig on the right side. Do your make up only slightly different on each side, and arrange slightly different left right clothing styles. This can be accomplished by pinning half of a skirt on one side and maybe half of a vest on the other side or wearing long white tube socks on one side and long black thigh high socks on the other. Then you can make fun of the fact that no one seems to recognize the one from the other with that simple wardrobe change.

If you are not sure of what types of clothes to wear for your Hannah Montana costume, then Google search Hannah Montana images and look at some of her more exaggerated wardrobes. She uses some crazy accessories like scarves, vests, boots, socks, mini-skirts, sequined shirts and jackets, half shirts and jackets, belts, glasses, necklaces, etc. If you are worried about coming up with something that matches or coordinates well, DON'T! Hannah Montana doesn't. Google has about two and a half million image results to prove this.

If you are still having issues figuring it out, you can Google search "Hannah Montana Costumes" to find over NINETY THOUSAND IMAGES!!!! These ideas are typically going to help with children's Hannah Montana costumes, but, if you are interested in adult-style costumes, the ideas will apply as well.

Christmas Tree Light Magic - How to String Them For Maximum Wow!

Lights on a tree can represent so many wonderful things about the holiday season. The sight of a family sitting around a Christmas tree, the only light in the room, while listening to the Nutcracker Suite and drinking hot chocolate. It seems like a fairy tale, but that's what the season is about; indulging our winter fantasies through festive décor and traditions.

Many people choose clear or white lights because they complement any color scheme or tree theme. Multicolored lights definitely give a festive look and single colored lights like red or blue also go well with certain themes. Lights should be the first thing placed on a tree. Before you start to decorate, pull the tree away from the wall or furniture so you can walk completely around it without obstruction.

How many lights do I need?

A good estimate of how many lights you'll need is to use the measurement of 100 lights for each foot of the tree. So for a 7ft tree, you'll want no less than 700 lights. 100 strand light sets work best for most people. Always plan to pick up an extra set of lights in case of shortage or burnout...you would hate to find yourself beginning your tree trimming and have to postpone it to run to the store for more lights!

Stringing the lights

Of course, test the lights before you begin. Plug in each strand to make sure everything's a go and keep them plugged in as you decorate. It's much easier to string and place them correctly when they're lit. One of the best ways to achieve that "lit from inside" tree is to wrap lights around select branches. Start by purchasing a light controller - a multi-socket extension cord. You can buy these at any home improvement or hardware store. These holiday hookups allow you to plug multiple strands of lights to one cord and control them through one switch. They generally make them in green but they're also available in white for white artificial trees. Attach the cord up and down the trunk of the tree with twine or pipe cleaner. IMPORTANT: Be sure to read the light manufacturer's instructions on strand plug on limits.

Grab a string of lights and start at the top of the tree. Plug the strand into the outlet near the top. Starting at the base of a branch, wrap the cord around the branch. Continue until you reach the tip, then wrap back towards the base. You don't have to wrap it super tight, just enough to give the branch a sufficient glow without obstructing or crushing the individual branches, and at the same time, hiding the wires well. As you work back toward the base, you can wrap around a few individual branches. When you hit the base start on a new branch. You don't need to wrap every single branch either (this would take a ton of lights and probably make the tree look like it was on fire rather than beautifully lit!). Just make sure you are consistent with your spacing from top to bottom. Step back and take a look at the tree to see where there may be gaps. It's even easier to string with an artificial tree, as you can string as you assemble and position the branches. Using this technique will give your tree dimension and depth and make it look like it's lit from within!

Enjoy your lit tree. Memories are only a light strand away...

Poinsettia - The Christmas Flower

Poinsettias originally came from Mexico and Central America. The ancient Aztecs considered the poinsettia to be a symbol of purity. Montezuma, the last Aztec king, had poinsettias brought into Mexico City by caravan because the poinsettia would not grow in the high altitude.

The bright petals of poinsettias are actually leaves or bracts, and the flowers themselves are very small and yellow. The Mexican poinsettia is bright red, but poinsettias also come in cream, yellow, pink and peach. Centuries ago, the sap of the poinsettia was used to control fevers and the bracts were used to make a reddish dye. Poinsettias can grow to a height of 16' and thrive in climates where the temperature remains between 50 and 70F.

According to legend, one day near Christmas a Mexican child who was too poor to buy a present for the Christ child picked a bouquet of weeds from the side of the road to offer as a gift. When she reached the church, she went to the altar to offer the bouquet.

To her astonishment and that of all of the onlookers, the plant blossomed in red and green flowers. This was declared a Christmas miracle. From that day on, poinsettias were known as the Flowers of the Holy Night.

Today, poinsettias are the most easily recognized flower symbolic of Christmas. Poinsettias are also known as the "Christmas flower" and "Mexican flame leaf." Poinsettias are now the best selling flowering potted plant in the United States, sold mostly during a six-week period near the holidays.

What Dino to Choose in a Dinosaur Party

On my nine-year old son's last birthday, we had gotten sick of traditional video games, comics, cartoon characters and swimming birthday parties. So I decided to go with a friend's idea and went to organize a dinosaur party. I had it all covered --- the Jurassic-themed plates to the T-Rex cake to the prehistoric birthday invitations. But then me and my son encountered a new dilemma-what kind of dinosaur should he imitate as the main celebrator?

That was soon solved as we discovered that there are a lot of kiddie dinosaur costumes available on the Internet. In fact, you can even create your own costume with some old pajamas, paper mache, some paper plates, markers and a really wild imagination. You can go absolutely wild and think of the most far out designs if you're designing a dinosaur costume. All you need are a few ideas.

My son eventually chose to go as a T-Rex (which is his new favorite dinosaur) but you can choose from an endless number of dinosaurs and other creatures, depending on what your son or daughter wants.

Here are just a few options:

Cave Man/Girl- Alright, so it's not exactly a dinosaur or even reptilian looking, but these costumes definitely belong in any dinosaur party. They're one of the easiest beings to portray at that, with you only needing a camouflage or animal print fabric to make the look complete. You can add more props likes bones or rock accessories to complete the effect.

Triceratops- An all-time favorite with its three horns and large neck frill, it's imposing, big and definitely fun to make and wear. Cardboard is one of the best materials to make the face mask from and a little gluing here and there will make your kid the star of the show.

Stegosaurus- Here's another popular dinosaur costume for the kids. It's one of the most challenging costumes to make yourself or your child because of the plates that run all the way down its back and down to its tail. It's very fulfilling as well, and adding bumps and definitions all over the body with green face paint will make the illusion complete.

Pterodactyl/Flying reptile- This is one of the easiest costumes to hand-make, especially since you can judge how wild you want the wings to look.

These are just a few of the options available to you if you ever find yourself organizing a dinosaur party. You can flash your creative powers and wow all the other parents with your unique approach to children's costumes.

Tips and Tricks to Win that Halloween Costume Contest

One thing that adults never get tired of participating in is a great Halloween party. These parties are a way to show your friends how creative you are. The competition to see see who has the best costume can be fierce! Having the best costume gives you the right to brag for the entire year, so it is definitely worth the time to pick a great Halloween costume.

Where do you go to participate in a costume contest? A friend may host the party, or a nightclub or bar may be running a special promotion that night. If you haven't been invited to a party, why not consider throwing one yourself? These are a great opportunity to gather with friends that you have not seen in a long time. If you don't feel like getting your house "messy", choose the night club option. These are always fun because they will probably be having cash and prize promotions for having the best costume.

Before you go to your Halloween party, you need to decide what you would like your costume to be. If you are part of a couple, you may want to do couple's themed costumes. These can be characters from movies, books, etc. For example, you could go as Donnie and Marie Osmond. Is that choice too conservative for you? Use your imagination!

In addition to dressing as a couple, many people like to choose retro themed costumes. Head into your dad's (or your own depending on your age) closet and select some truly authentic wear. Another great location for retro gear are thrift stores and consignment shops. Keep in mind that many other people will be following this theme as well. Put your own special spin on the idea to truly stand out.

Though these old standbys can certainly do the trick, the key to winning is to think outside the box. The trick to winning a costume contest is to choose something that no one else will have chosen. What was popular in the news this year? You could dress up as any of the celebrity socialites in a jail outfit. What is something wacky around your house that you could dress up as. There was a guy who one such a contest that dressed up as a shower stall. Use your imagination! There really are some cool ideas right at your fingertips for your Halloween costume party.

Regardless of what you choose this Halloween, do not be shy! You must be bold and confident in your choice. Is your costume a little revealing? Who cares! This is Halloween, where you are something you're not for just one night. We are given the chance to take on another persona without judgment. The most important rule for this Halloween is to be creative with your costume choice. That is the only way to guarantee success in a costume contest.

Robert Burns - Burns Night

Despite his tragic demise at a young age of only 37, Robert Burns' collection of poetry and songs has elevated him to the position of being Scotland's national bard. His work had the ability to convey the imagery of liberty and independence for both the common man as well as for the Scots themselves that made Burns a literary hero - a bard.

Born January 25, 1759 the son of a tenant-farming family, Robert Burns was educated well and was well read. During his teenage years and through early manhood, Burns worked on farms and it is during these formative years that he developed some of the passions that remained with him and were expressed through his works. Putting the period into a social context will help to see how some of these passions were fuelled by what Burns could see around him.

This was an age of revolution. The second half of the eighteenth century gave rise to two of the most far-reaching social events in modern history. Firstly, the American revolutions (1775) followed by those in France (1789). The latter part of Burn's life also saw the heralding of the Industrial Revolution and although he died before mass exodus of the countryside to the growing city's factories was some way off, it was imminent. As a counter towards this 'Scottish Enlightenment' movement there was a growth towards romanticising rural life and its communities - the old agrarian Scotland. In deed, Burns' legacy is one of 'ploughman poet' an image that he was happy to develop and portray by turning his work towards attacking the new establishment. His works celebrating the countryside - 'The Cotter's Saturday Night' and 'The Twa Dugs' where he took the side of tenant farmers, are testament to this.

There were other strong forces to which Burns also turned his attention. Firstly, the kirk, or church; the church remained a strong force in Scottish society and Burns' verse was most humorous when he was attacking it and its ministers. He aimed his commentary particularly at the Calvinist preachers with their 'fire and brimstone' approach to preaching. This had the affect however of galvanising them against him and quickly he became the object of criticism in their sermons which was responded to by Burns with even more savage verses. 'Holy Willie's Prayer' is the best example of this.

As we have already seen, Burns - and the Scots of his time we waking up to the realisation that their simply agrarian lifestyle was passing and had seen the crushing of the Jocobite Rebellion and the tragedy in the Highlands. Burns and his contemporaries raised the public consciousness of the Jocobites and Highland traditions and there grew a perpetuating hunger for tales of the adventures of the rebels and other characters associated with these passing times. The song 'Charlie, He's My Darling' is about Bonny Prince Charlie (the Young Pretender) and would be the most well remembered.

Although Burn's had fame he had little fortune to go with it and it was the need to support his wife and family that forced him to become an excise officer - part of the establishment he had fervently attacked -- a position he held until his death. This contrary stance was not something lost on Burns and during this time he wrote the poem 'The De'ils Awa' Wi' The Exciseman'.

Burns' lasting legacy is that of champion to the common man and champion to Scotland. 'Auld Lang Syne' is an anthem to brotherhood and although it is strongly associated with ushering in a New Year it has a wider context. His reputation, as the meaning of his poetry and other works, is truly international and will be celebrated globally this January 25th at Burns Night celebrations anywhere there is an ex-pats Scottish presence.

Tank Tour: World's Largest Private Collection of Historic Military Vehicles (BB Video)

In today's edition of Boing Boing Video, guest-host Todd Lappin explores a massive collection of historical military vehicles tanks collected by an eccentric Silicon Valley multimillionaire. The recently-departed Jacques Littlefield amassed one of the world's largest and most significant collections of this type, and his collection is now overseen by the nonprofit Military Vehicle Technology Foundation. Snip from their description: "Our goal is to acquire, restore, and interpret the historical significance of 20th and 21st century military vehicles. Domestic and foreign combat vehicles such as tanks, armored cars, self-propelled artillery, and other technically interesting mobile platforms are the focus of the collection. We also maintain an extensive technical library that describes many vehicles down to the part level. Aside from the vehicles, there are towed artillery, antitank, and antiaircraft guns. Military support equipment, inert ordnance, and accessories round out the collection." The foundation is supported by public donations, and you can make one at their website if you dig what they do. To make arrangements for tours, you can email tours.mvtf at gmail.com. To arrange access to the collection for commercial purposes: permissions.mvtf at gmail.com. Start Putting Out The Fires - Halloween Firefighter Costume Ideas

Appear as a classic firefighter and you will need to start putting out the fires of desire and watch out for smoldering embers. A firefighter costume for Halloween is sure to be a steamy idea and is sure to get all of the ladies around all hot and bothered. Everyone loves a hero and all Firefighters are heroes. In this article we will give you some helpful hints and tips on adopting a new persona for the night.

A fireman is one of the classic fantasies for women linked with acts of heroism and the mystery of a handsome dark stranger capable of carrying to safety any woman they want to. Most women would admit to having fantasised about being carried to safety from a blazing fire over the shoulder of a strapping fireman. As a man attending a fancy dress party this is almost a sure winner of a costume.

A fireman costume is both easy to wear and this makes it comfortable, the only issue may come from it becoming hot, but hey a fireman striped with glistening bare chest MUST be an even bigger winner. It's that simple! Most internet fancy dress costume retailers will have a range of firefighter costume styles available.

Having the right costume is all well and good but there are some basic rules for playing the role of firefighter successfully. No woman will fall for that 'straight out of the box' costume. You will need to really look the part. Firstly you will need a couple of accessories. Tall leather boots or boot covers - look in the pirate section for these. If you have good quality black gumboots, polish these up and add a yellow toe-cap for the truly authentic look.

If you want to make a memorable entrance you could select a fireman's helmet with a flashing blue light. These have a switch which allows the lights to be turned on and off. With lights flashing, a small ladder or length of garden hose you will certainly take centre of stage.

To achieve maximum effect you could adopt the 'sorry I'm late, I've just been to a fire' look. Using dark make-up smear some dark marks on your face and dirty your hands. This is better and more realistically achieved with real charcoal and ash which can also be used to 'age' and add extra realism to your costume. A dirty breathing mask (from your local DIY store) really makes it look like you've put your life at risk; a must for those extra hero's points.

And as an act of equality, there are now a number of firefighter costumes for women too! These are aimed at being scorching hot and wear one of these and you will be setting off fire-alarms all over the place. Most of these costumes come with boot tops but if yours doesn't team it will long sexy black boots (red if you have them), create your sexiest makeup to look your sexiest best. Complete the look with one of the novelty handbags shaped like a fire extinguisher and you will be the hottest thing at the party.

Haunted Houses - Not For Everyone

What is it about Halloween that transforms ordinary people into seekers of anything dark and unknown? Cemeteries at night, horror films by the dozen or one of the most popular and oldest traditions - the haunted house!

A haunted house is defined as a building that is the center for supernatural occurrences or paranormal phenomena. A house is said to be "possessed" or "haunted" when Satan or ghosts take up residence. Some cases involve otherwise normal people hearing strange noises or having visions of dead people or of objects moving with no visible means of locomotion. That is the type of illusion that most actors, animatronics, sound, lighting and other special effects bring to today's haunted house making them such excellent scary venues. It is estimated that there are over 3,000 haunted houses operating every year in North America alone.

A haunted house should terrify, mystify, shock and disorient its patrons and then let them laugh at their own fears upon exiting. Fear is one of the strongest emotions a human being can experience. There are two basic types of fear a good haunted house can generate; first, the "boo" scare. This is the cheapest but most sought after fright. In the human psyche, there are no lingering effects from this threat. It is accomplished by simply introducing a shocking element by surprise. While causing a scream and a jump in blood pressure, the effects wear off quickly when the person realizes there is no real threat. Chainsaws are typically the favorite for invoking this type of fright. Second is the "lingering" fear. This type of fear is actually a deep sense of dread of what is to come. Approximately 70% of the population is afraid of the dark and their imagination goes into overdrive for what they perceive might happen. The boo scare is the release of this dread. Without the release, the lingering fear can bother guests even after they have left the haunted house.

According to The Haunted American Tours in 2007, the top 10 best most haunted, scariest and creepiest Spook Houses are:

1. Universal Horror Nights, Orlando, FL
2. Shocktoberfest, Reading, Pennsylvania
3. Bennett's Curse-House of the Vampyres
4. Netherworld... Atlanta, Georgia
5. Headless Horseman... Ulster Park, New York
6. Thrillvania, Dallas, TX
7. Frightfest, St. Louis, MO
8. Terror on the Fox, Green Bay, WI
9. Fright World, Buffalo, New York
10. The Nest, Phoenix, AZ

Whether you're a fan of haunted houses or not, one thing is for sure ... haunted houses are here to stay.

Ho, Ho, Ho! Is a Non-Traditional Santa Costume on Your Christmas List This Year?

Memories of Santa Claus and his magical influence has many Christmas enthusiasts searching for that perfect Santa Costume to keep tradition alive each festive season!

However, something odd has happened over time, and we are quickly noticing that Mr. Santa is setting some new trends with his Santa suits, and has been spotted around town in many fashion styles and colors that are not so traditional anymore.

Santa Claus costumes have come a long way, and with many of the online costume suppliers stocking up on good old Saint Nick apparel, you just can't imagine what this popular elf will come up with next this year. I'm just amazed how these online costume companies catch on so fast with the trends, and make them available to you so quickly, aren't you?

Known also as Kris Kringle, he is normally seen around town on Christmas Eve in his traditional red suit with white fur trim, red Santa hat, black boots, and big belt to hold in his big jelly belly, which still seems to be very popular to date. But in the past few years Santa decided to promote some of his new outfits for the holiday season, and now if you're lucky enough, you can see him around town wearing fancy blue Santa Claus suits, with a variety of matching blue Santa hats! I personally find it very slimming for Santa.

Mr. Claus Is Spreading The Cheer With Holiday Costumes For Women, Kids, and Even Your Pets! Boy, times are changing, but I believe for the better! It's nice to see that Santa's not the only exclusive Christmas icon seen wearing a festive costume. The only thing is, I'm not sure if you agree, but old Saint Nick's getting a little relaxed in his days, and if you happen to be out and about late at night, you may see Mr. Kringle hanging out in some of your local night clubs, with a beautiful lady wearing a very revealing sexy Santa costume. I wonder what Mrs. Claus has to say about that!

If you have seen these sexy Santa costumes, they truly are eye candy for the adult's eyes! I personally have seen them, and they're very attractive looking with the little red dress, plush white trim, cuffs, black belt, and matching Santa hat. I have also witnessed the Saucy Santa outfit, which includes a red velvet dress, white fur trim, and matching hat. Wow, I better stop talking, just in case Old Nick finds out I'm revealing his secrets, and puts me on his naughty list.

I'm not sure if Santa happens to be recruiting Santa helpers in his extremely old age, but it is well documented that many costume suppliers are offering a wide range of Santa Claus costumes for kids! Now of course they didn't have any Santa facial hair, and were not wearing a Santa Claus beard and wig, so this is how I knew they were children, and not elves.

You can tell Old Saint Nick likes his protégés to look good, because these kids were wearing some joyful apparel. The boys had on a Red Velveteen Santa suit, with white fur trim, black belt, and boot tops, with the traditional red Santa hat. The girls were wearing the Little Miss Santa outfit, which included a red dress with white accents, belt, and Santa hat as well. The infants were bundled up in precious Santa Claus baby costumes, which made them look absolutely adorable. You could tell they were enjoying themselves, and they were all spreading the true festive spirit like Santa would have in his younger days.

Now call me crazy, but I think Father Christmas was going a little too far when I happened to spot many pet costumes. Who would have thought there would be a Santa costume for pets! Well it's true, and you can see many of these furry critters running around in pet antlers, and you have to see the Santa Claws costume that includes the red outfit with white trim, and attached character arms, it's amazingly funny. Leave it to good Old St. Nick to give us all a laugh or two.

While wrapping up this story, I realized that Christmas is a time of year to spend with your close family and friends, and with our world changing every year, it's fun and refreshing to look at celebrating this great season with a spontaneous, colorful change. It keeps our minds fresh, and when you finally find your Santa costume that suits your personal style, embrace it, and enjoy a non-traditional Festive Noel once in a while!

Are You Superstitious?

This year June 13, 2008 falls on a Friday, otherwise known as Friday the 13th. It is the only Friday the entire year that the 13th falls on. To many people seeing Friday the 13th on their calendar automatically brings with it a feeling of dread. The dictionary defines the word superstition as, "an irrational fear of what is unknown or mysterious". Some sources say that Friday the 13th may be the most widespread superstition in the United States. The fear of Friday the 13th is called "paraskavedekatriaphobia", a specialized form of triskaidekaphobia, a fear of the number thirteen.

Friday the 13th is an unlucky day in much of Western Europe, North America, and Australia. Many people avoid travel, avoid signing contracts, some won't eat in restaurants, go to work and some people won't even get out of bed. Many tall buildings don't have a 13th floor and some airlines don't have a row 13; they skip straight from 12 to 14. However, while the superstition is believed to be fading, it nonetheless has deep roots in Christian culture. Many Christians have long believed that Friday was unlucky because it was the day of the week when Jesus was crucified and the number 13 was believed to bring bad luck because there were 13 people at The Last Supper with the 13th guest being Judas, the traitor.

Here are some more "bad luck" superstitions:

Walking under a ladder
Breaking a mirror
A black cat
A bat flying into your house
Three butterflies together
Hearing a rooster crow at night
Spilling salt
Crossing knifes at a table
Sitting on a table without one foot touching the ground
Breaking a glass while proposing a toast
Seeing an owl during daylight hours
Opening an umbrella indoors

In May 1980 a popular slasher film franchise started with the original movie called Friday the 13th. Since then 11 sequels have been released. The franchise is mainly based on the character "Jason" who drowned while attended summer Camp. Jason is featured in all of the films, either as the killer or as the motivation for the killings always wearing his trademark white hockey mask. In addition, a remake of the original Friday the 13th film is scheduled for release Friday, February 13, 2009.

Kids Lab Coats - The Perfect Halloween Costume

Kids love wearing costumes and playing dress-up. Some of the favorite "characters" to dress up as include various occupations, such as doctors, police, lawyers, and others. Doctors and pharmacists tend to be some of the most popular of all. If your child is interested in playing one of these characters at Halloween or for any other occasion, you will need a costume. Lab coats, scrubs, and stethoscopes are staples of such costumes.

Fortunately, kids lab coats are available in a variety of sizes to fit the little ones. You can even get lab coats with embroidered names or logos on the breast pocket, to enhance the child's experience with a little bit of realism. Different patterns and designs of child's lab coats are sometimes available, but you can certainly find a great variety of styles of scrubs, if they will suffice for your child's needs.

Sometimes you may be able to find a child's costume set that includes more than just a lab coat. These are usually available in costume stores or around Halloween. If you do find one of these sets, they are the perfect solution for kids who want to be a doctor or other medical professional. They often come complete with lab coat or scrubs, surgical cap and shoe covers, surgical mask, shirt, and pants. Pretend and Play makes just such a doctor set, which includes a plastic doctor's bag, battery-operated stethoscope, pager, thermometer, and bandages.

Since some parents worry about their kids wearing grotesque or violent costumes at Halloween, occupational costumes are an excellent alternative. Your child can present a positive alternative to the scary and gory costumes so often seen at Halloween today.

The Best Harry Potter Costume Ideas For Adults and Children

With all of the success of the Harry Potter series of books by J.K. Rowling, it's no wonder why so many people want to dress up in Harry Potter costumes for Halloween and other events. After all, when someone really enjoys a character or a whole cast of characters, whether it is from a book, television show, or movie, they often want to emulate them. This can be done relatively easily with a Harry Potter costume.

There are two main categories of Harry Potter Halloween costumes. You can either dress up as Harry Potter himself, or as one of the many children who attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Either way, you are sure to have a lot of fun with the occasion. The great thing about this is that these costumes can be for both adults and children. The adult Harry Potter costume is essentially the exact same as the child Harry Potter costume since the styles are so universal.

When you are going for the look of a regular student at Hogwarts, there are some things that you definitely need. First of all, a robe is a necessity. Your robe should be black and made of heavy cloth, such as wool. It should also have a hood, although you probably won't end up using it. Next, you should have a colored button down shirt with a tie on underneath. Think about it. This is a costume for a school uniform. It will be a bit stricter than other costumes might be.

If you want to dress up your Harry Potter Costume a bit, you can also get a scarf. In the movies and books, the children wear a scarf that has the colors of whatever house they live in at the school. The main one is for Gryffindor, which is maroon and gold. The scarf will have wide stripes of these colors.

Now, if you want an authentic Harry Potter costume where you are dressed as the actual character, you will need two additional things. First, a big thing that makes Harry Potter special is his scar. It is a scar in the shape of a lightning bolt that is right on his forehead. You'll also need glasses. The rounder the frames, the better.

For added authenticity to your Harry Potter costume, you should consider making a wand. You could also even carry around an old fashioned style broom that you could pretend to ride. With this costume, you will be able to represent your favorite literary character.

Get Amazing Halloween Costumes For Your Little Kid

Halloween Event is a great festival for all those who are crazy, weird and witty. This is an amazing experience if you want to show yourself wild and crazy. However, Halloween Event all depends on the selection and adoption of costumes. There are many costumes available in this regard having varying prices. Here I am briefly describing some of ideas of costumes for your child. You can get them from any market. You can also create these ideas at home if you have little time and you are skilled as well. On the other hand, if you make a purchase from market it may be more expensive for you. So, do and act in a way whatever you think better for you. Here are the unique ideas for your little kid.

One of the cutest costumes ever created for Halloween Event is Monkey George. This costume will make your child adorable and he will look like a small naughty monkey. Mostly this costume is available in one piece set that may also known as romper plus non slip shoes. These non slip shoes are just to keep the child save while running and jumping.

Betsy is another widely accepted costume for this event. This costume includes one piece set like a romper or two pieces including pant and shirt combination. A comfortable head cover and tail is also included in this set of costume. This costume turns your child into a small creature with a lovely tail at the back.

Elvis is another costume that is appealing and trendy. It comes along with several accessories depending on the taste and age of your child. The price of this costume also depends on the number of accessories adopted.

Another lovely costume is Stone Age Pebbles costume. This costume is available in two piece set including blue pants plus green top. Moreover, several accessories are also available depending on the taste and age of your child. Price, again, depends on the number of accessories adopted.

So, with the help of above mentioned costumes you can make Halloween Event memorable not only for you but for your child as well.

Halloween - Hot Costumes

Halloween is one of those holidays where you get to be a kid no matter how old you are. It's the one day of the year where you can dress as stupid as you want and not have to worry about your neighbors looking at you like you came from Mars. So what do you do when it comes time to picking out a costume? After all, you want to stand out from the crowd. You don't want to be just another pretty or not so pretty face. Well, there are several ways you can go with picking out a costume.

One direction is to go with the standard tried and true costumes. Things like ghosts, witches, Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula and things like that. But in order to make your standard costume stand out from everybody else there is a little trick you can do that will really get attention. It's very simple and yet few people think of it. So you can thank the author of this article later for this suggestion.

Find a twist. Make it as crazy and as insane as you want. It doesn't matter. The more wild, the better. For example. On top of your ghost costume, wear a bolder hat. Maybe put a necktie around your neck. Glasses are also a great twist. The nearsighted ghost. That will really get a laugh. Maybe wear hip boots over the bottom of your sheet. You might even try painting a bulls-eye on the front of your sheet. And here's a great idea. Remember the ghost busters emblem from the movie? You can put one of those on the front of your sheet with a line going through it. Kind of like a no ghost busters zone. All of a sudden, with any one of these ideas, your standard, dull ghost costume is the hit of the party.

For those of you who want to go for the celeb costumes, there are plenty these days to choose from. The one thing you don't want to do is to choose a celebrity who is currently the hottest thing on the planet. Why? Simple. Everybody and their grandmother is going to be wearing that costume. No, you want to go with celebs that are still popular but not quite the hottest thing going. That way, when people see you in your costume they'll be able to recognize you and yet not be saying to themselves, "great, another Jessica Simpson".

Finally, the last option you've got is to be totally original. Do you remember the episode of The Honeymooners where Ralph made his man from space costume? He took a bunch of things from around the house and put them together to make a very original costume. You don't have to be quite that creative but you get the idea. Use your imagination. Remember, this is Halloween, so there is no such thing as right or wrong, just dull.

If you follow the above tips, you are bound to come up with something that you won't be ashamed to walk out of the house in.

Halloween Party Fun

Well, the time has come again. We've hit the end of August, so summer is over and I guess my son feels he needs to have something to look forward to. And that's not going back to school. So as we sit and chat about what we are going to do the last couple of days before school starts, he pops up with, "mommy, can I have another Halloween party this year. Yes, you heard me right, he is already asking about Halloween. On one hand I can't believe what I'm hearing, however, on the other hand I too love Halloween. Actually our whole family loves Halloween. My two kids actually talk about what they are going to ware throughout the whole year. And as soon as the stores come out with Halloween stuff we're there.

Back to the party, I say "ok lets have a Halloween party". We sit down and make a list of guests. I'm fortunate as a lot of my sons friends, their parents are friends of mine, so I get have have a little party of my own as well. And some help as well. Once we have our list done, we talk about the costumes. We have to have this little talk, as we had a Halloween party two years ago, and a lot of the little guests wore costumes that had accessories with them. And as we all know, the accessories these days may not be appropriate to have at a kids Halloween party with 20 of them running around. So I say "there will be no kind of weapons allowed" and of course I get the ahhhhhhh. But that's where it ends. We talk about what we should have to eat and drink and decorations. OH decorations now that is the fun part.

Now we can hardly wait until the end of September. We'll make up same invitations, or you can buy them, and well give them out to the guests. We'll decorate the house the last weekend is September. Yes, I said "We'll" the whole family gets involved, it's actually turns into a great day, you're spending time together and preparing for something that you all enjoy. I know you're probably thinking on my gosh that's early. My feeling is, if you're going to take all that time to decorate you should enjoy it for awhile. So out comes the decorations for inside the house and out. Oh yes, you have to decorate the outside as well. That's one of the best parts.

When the day arrives we'll have some kid appropriate music, some yummy "scary" snacks, and games to play. I'll only plan a few things for them to do, because as we all know, they'll just want to hang out and make their own fun. We'll have pizza, and blood punch (any kind of red juice) with Jello hands and eyeballs floating in it. Cup cakes that look like spiders, and just the usually Halloween candy. I'll try to make it easy, in reality at this point my kids don't really care about what they eat, they just want their friends around. Now for me and my friends. We care about the food, so I'll make some delicious appetizers, such as my Cheddar Bacon Dip. One thing is for sure, your kids will remember your Halloween party for years to come.

How To Come Up With Fun & Creative Costume Ideas

When it comes to choosing a costume, whether for Halloween or some other event, some people dive right into it and others struggle for ideas. Whichever camp you fall into, you're not alone. But if you're in the "I can't come up with a costume" group, there are plenty of ways to get ideas.

First, you should probably narrow down your choices a bit by looking at several things. First, what sort of event is the costume for? Is there a theme for everyone to follow or can you choose freely? Is it a family affair or adults only? And will the location and/or the weather play a part in your choice?

Plus, you'll have to decide whether you're going to buy or rent your costume or put something together yourself.

Once you've got these simple guidelines worked out, you'll need to decide what you want to dress up as. What kind of costume accessories might you need? For example, hats, wigs, gloves, masks, etc.

Buying your costume from your local costume seller is usually the simplest option, although for a wider selection you're probably best going to one of the costume shop websites. Even if you buy your costume, you can always put your own finishing touches on it to make it unique and a little more special.

If you decide to make your own costume, it'll obviously be more work but then you can design it exactly the way you want. It's rare that you'll find a retail costume that has exactly what you're looking for, plus creating your own might save you some money.

Your local thrift store is a great place to search for old clothes that you can use as a basis for your costume.

The Coolest Children's Halloween Costume Ideas

Children's Halloween costumes come in all shapes and sizes. When it comes to Halloween costumes you can let your imagination run wild. Not only can you dress your children up to be anyone living or dead that you can think of you can also dress them up as inanimate objects as well. From trees to giants, princesses to witches there are more children's Halloween costumes than you could possibly imagine available to help your child enjoy the holiday. Some fun ideas are included here.

Batman costumes are popular this year. You can choose from the traditional batman costume or opt for the Joker character this year. Some Batman costumes include padding to make your child look muscular like Batman in the movies.

Princess costumes have been a favorite over the years. Your little girl can dress up in her best Sunday dress or you can buy a more glittery looking Princess costume dress. Many of the princess costumes available are patterned after famous princesses from Disney and other movies. You will need to decide which princess to emulate on Halloween.

Pirate costumes are fun. Since the Pirates of the Caribbean movies have made such a big hit your child has surely heard of a specific pirate to dress up as. This costume can take a traditional approach by using eye patch, ragged clothing, large hat and sword. Your child may find dressing like a specific character more fun. There are many ways to pull off this look.

Jason and other murderous characters from scary movies can be fun to dress up as. Children can dress up in outfits that match the characters from movies or you can purchase a ready made costume. Accessories such as hatchets for axe murderers and hockey masks for Hannibal the Cannibal Lector can be easily gathered and can make the costumes more fun.

Homemade Halloween Costume Ideas

My mother didn't believe in buying ready-made costumes from a store, but handcrafted or improvised each of my Halloween costumes when I was a child. Some of my favorites were a ladybug, a mime, and a rock star.

Making a costume for your toddler can be a fun experience and an opportunity for quality time with your child. In many cases, there is very little to purchase to create a great costume. Many materials needed are already owned and can be improvised upon without permanently altering the materials by use of hem tape, fabric glue or masking tape.

You can also create homemade make-up for costumes by mixing two tablespoons of cornstarch with one tablespoon of shortening. Mix on wax paper for easy cleaning and add food-coloring to create different colors.

Think of it as an opportunity to expand your child's (and your own) creativity and imagination!

A few ideas to get you started:

Ladybug - Use dark clothing, like sweatshirts and pants (this can also help with those cold October days). Take a red saucer (like the ones used for sledding in winter) and paint black circles on the back. Use rope or cloth to attach loops for the child's arms or Velcro to attach the saucer to the back of the shirt. (Poster board can also be used in place of the saucer)

Rock Star - a colorful wig can be purchased or made out of paper or yarn. Colorful clothing and make-up add flair to the costume of a rock star.

Bumble Bee - Add stripes of black electrical tape to a yellow raincoat. Fashion black pipe cleaners to a headband for antenna.

Mummy: Use white clothing and wrap a few pieces of gauze or white cloth around the child's body.

Skunk: Paint a white stripe down the back of a black shirt. Simple yet creative!

Spider: Use cheap pantyhose for the legs of the spider. Fill hose with lightweight dark material and pin to dark clothing.

Clown: Oversized bright colored clothing work well for clowns. Use white face paint, and paint red circles on the child's cheeks. Carry balloons, juggling balls or similar clown items.

Pumpkin: Dress child in over-sized orange sweatshirt and dark colored pants. Draw pumpkin face on the shirt and add a green cap to child's head for a perfect pumpkin.

A bunch of grapes: a solid colored green or black shirt is used for this costume. Attach purple balloons to the costume with tape to create a bunch of grapes.

Angel: Use white colored clothing. Add white pipe cleaners fashioned into a circle to a headband for halo. Instant angel!

For Babies:

Bunny: A great one for babies. Dress the baby in a sleeper and add some matching fabric for floppy ears. Paint a few whiskers on baby's cheeks for a cute bunny. (Works similarly for kittens and puppies)

Flower: Paint a green stripe down the center of sleeper. Add fabric around a cap for flower petals.

There are a nearly unlimited amount of options for homemade costumes if you use your imagination. Look around you for simple ideas that are quite creative and different! Over all, remember to have fun and include your child in the creation process.
